Hello
Hello! My name is Tabitha Orta. I have been a Denton resident for over 23 years! I currently reside in the Oak, Hickory Historic District. I am originally from Taos, New Mexico where my love for the arts began while studying music. I moved to Dallas in 1999 and in 2004 I started DFW's first and only all female mariachi! I am married to an extraordinary man who has been my best friend for over 18 years and have 4, not-so-little sweethearts who call me mom! I love life, I enjoy people and do my best to make the most of every moment life brings my way.
MY STORY
As a baker, and home chef, my favorite thing to do is elevate recipes, experiment with different ingredients and create unique flavor combinations. I've always been a sucker for a great dessert. From cheesecakes, to strawberry shortcakes, creme brûlée or even a classic cherry pie, I love them all! Over time, it became more difficult to find desserts that were not overly sweet. Cakes made with fondants (sugars and gelatin) or your typical American Buttercream (powdered sugar) aways makes you feel like your teeth are about to fall out! I started to find that many of the people I loved turned down desserts because they were always far too sweet. Wanting to create a great experience for the people I loved, I took on the challenge of trying to create desserts that were not too sweet. I found an old wedding cake recipe book and started by making my own meringue buttercream to use for my cakes and cupcakes. I fell in love! I moved on to chocolate mousse and coconut creme pies, cookies, cheesecakes, and anything my friends and family requested. I began to approach baking the way I did cooking, relying on building flavors and featuring nuances while being careful to maintain a satisfying level of sweetness. And just as I suspected, people began to not only eat more of my desserts but started requesting them by name!

After 2 decades of this, I've finally decided to bring my approach to my community. I am certain there are a few others out there like me and I am excited to reintroduce your favorite cake to you!
I'm starting with cakes and hope to one day expand to other favorites. But for now, I offer a variety of cakes for you to enjoy! From small personal cakes, intimate wedding and "just because I'm in the mood for cake" cakes! For markets and parties I also create cake jars and push cake pops which are layers of cake with wonderful fillings and buttercream. Apart from this, I have finally perfected the cinnamon roll and they are available for pickup!
